BEING FOSTERED IN LA
This little girl is a love bug and her foster mom calls her "huggie bear" cause she loves to be held and loved on. She is ready to go to her new home and wants to get settled in so she can send Santa her Christmas list. She is UTD on all shots, heartworm negative and chipped. She is used to a doggie door to go outside to potty so would need to be trained to let you know when she needs to go out if you don't have a doggie door. No children under 10 as she is shy and not used to kids. No cats. She would be great with another dog as company and best for her. She will need to be socialized more by taking her places when you go in your car. She is used to sleeping in a crate at night and has no problem going in her bed for night-night after a hard day of checking things out. She is submissive to other females so best that she be with a male.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.
More about MYRA...WV
Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
