NAME..................................OSCAR DACHSHUND...................PURE/TWEENIE COAT..................................SMOOTH COLOR..............................BLACK & TAN AGE.....................................3 YRS GENDER...........................MALE/NEUTERED WEIGHT.............................needs to go on diet ADOPTION FEE................225.00 10.00 chip fee OSCAR came to us from KY where he was an owner turn-in. Said the young child was wanting to let the dog out all the time and they lived on a busy road. Any dachshund will dart out an open door so any adopter as to be careful and teach their children not to let the dog out. OSCAR is good with children, don't know about cats and he's a little shy at first but warms up quickly. He gets along with all the other dogs in the foster home male and female. He likes to walk on a leash and go for rides. He's very very sweet. He is housebroken as well. He is UTD on all shots and on Interceptor and Frontline. If you are interested in Oscar please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online application and be sure to put Oscar's name on the application and we will be in touch shortly after you send your app. We try very hard to get any dog that you are approved to adopt to you home as quickly as possible. We will help with transport or will set up an all volunteer transport or give you the names of some transporters that charge a fee to get your new baby to you. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost off to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.

Not Good with Cats

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
