About RUBY..IL

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes
DACHSHUND.............................PURE/TWEENIE COAT............................................WIRE COLOR........................................BLACK AND TAN AGE..............................................2-3 YRS WEIGHT.......................................11.5 LBS. CONTACT....................................dpray@fuse.net ADOPTION FEE..........................250.00 plus 10.00 chipping fee Ruby is an all-around happy, friendly dog who would do well with any family. She gets along great with other dogs and pays no attention to the cat. She loves kids as well. And Ruby hardly ever barks! She was rescued from the shelter and not much is known about her past. But she is 2-3 years old, heartworm negative and has started heartworm preventative and Frontline treatment. She only weighs 11.5 lbs. right now and could stand to gain another pound or two. Ruby is housetrained and doesn't need to be crated while away or at night as she rests quietly without causing any disruptions. She is up-to-date on her vaccinations including DHLPP, bortadella and rabies and will be spayed soon. If you are interested in Ruby please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online application. Home visit is required and out of state adoptions are welcome. Ruby is being fostered in KY and will be chipped before going to her forever home.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
