Snickers was given up by owners due to wife became asthmatic, they were heartbroken and so was Snickers. She is a very sweet sweet girl and loves to be held and cuddled. She is house broken and likes to go outside to get some sun but when it's hot prefers to be inside under her special blanket thrown on the floor and covered up in it. She is used to sleeping in her crate at night and will come with her. She will not sleep in the big bed. About 10pm at night she's looking to say night-night to all. She likes baths and chew bones but will destroy toys. She likes children and other dogs and gets along with both male and females here unless they bother her once she goes to bed. She walks great on a leash and loves car rides. She is UTD on all shots and CAN BE PUT ON OR INTERCEPTOR. Before going to her new home she will be having a dental. This girl with fit into any household so please do not let her age stop you from adopting this sweet lively girl. Out of state adoptions are welcome; home visit is required. Please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online adoption application if you are interested in her and that will also have her adoption fee there as well. Thank you for your interest in a rescue.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
