Meet SPANKY. He is an 8-year-old Pie Bald. He was turned in to the animal control in Franklin, TN for unknown reasons by his owner. He is a great boy who gets along with other dogs. He is housebroken and minds very well. He does like to sleep in the big bed but will sleep in a doggie bed. He is playful and loves his chew toy. It is truly a mystery why anyone would give up this sweet boy because he gives love unconditionally. He is heartworm negative and UTD on all shots on heartworm prevention and Frontline. If you are interested in knowing more about SPANKY please contract his foster mom and dad or if you have decided you just can't live without him then you really need to go to our website and fill out our online application.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle.

Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
