Being foster in Newport News, VA

SPARKIE came into rescue in December of 2006 with his brother. His brother was adopted out right away, yet SPARKIE like some other rescue dogs, remains in rescue for no apparent reason. SPARKIE is great dog. He is only 4 years old; he is good with other dogs and cats. He can go to a home with children over 10 years old. He is a beautiful dog; he is well behaved and deserves a great home. He is housebroken, but just like any dog, he will have accidents when he goes to his new home until he learns the routine of the house. SPARKIE is UTD on all of his shots, heartworm negative, and on prevention. SPARKIE has been waiting patiently, wishing for a forever home to call his own. Can you end SPARKIE’S waiting and make his biggest wish come true? If you can, please fill out an application to adopt and list SPARKIE as your preference.

More about SPARKIE...CT

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
