SPIKE3 came in with DELTA DAWN from a good breeder that was having some health problems and had to scale down. Spike is shier than his sister but loves to cuddle and will sleep in the bid bed if you let him. They both love the doggie door and love to go outside to run and play. We like to see them go together but they don't need to. They are both very sweet and are socialized and once they have time to warm up to you they want to be right in your lap while you are watching TV or on the computer. Spike will need further work on housetraining but does know how to use newpaper or puppy pads. Crates are ok but they prefer not to be in them but could while you are gone. They will also need further work with leash training. If you have a fenced in yard and hopefully a doggie door, these two would love to come and live with you. SPIKE is neutered, utd on all shots on Interceptor and Frontline. If you'd like to make one or both of these babies yours please go online to our website www.ssdr.org and fill out an online application and be sure to put their names on the app.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.
More about SPIKE3...CT
Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
