SUNNY was pulled from a shelter by a very caring person. He had no fur on him, he had dermdexic mange. This caring lady got him treated and held him until we could get him. He is not all cured, UTD on all shots and on Interceptor and Frontline. His fur as almost all grown back but still a little thin in some places but he will get it all back. He is house broken, very very sweet and is fine with all dogs, kids and cats. He is just about the sweetest foster I've had here in a long time. He loves his foster mommy and even wants to sleep on the same pillow. He does play alittle with the other dogs but mostly wants to follow his foster mom around but will set in foster daddy's lap went foster mom is working or away. He will be excellent for a family with small children or an elderly couple. He loves to ride and walks well on a leash.
If you are interested in adopting Sunny please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online app and be sure to put his name on the app and we will begin working on your app right away and you should have you new family member in 2-3 weeks or less if all goes well with the app.
Out of state adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost off to the adopter. It is only $10.00.Thank you for your interested in a rescue.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
