FREDDY came to us as a stray from a shelter here in TN. We can't imagine why anyone would not be looking for this little boy. He's such a sweet boy and loves to play play and play. We aren't sure but he might even be younger than 2 yrs.
He is UTD on all shots, heartworm negative and on Interceptor and Frontline. He will mark the first day or two that you have him but best to put a belly band on him and that'll take care of that. Freddy is very easy to work with. He just wants to please you. We are sure he needs to have another young dog to play with or he'll get bored. He likes toys but could destroy them. He is food aggressive and needs to be fed separately for other dogs. He'd be a great companion for an older person or someone that's active cause he'd go anywhere you wanted to go. We'd say no young kids under 12 and no cats. He is housetrained to a doggie door and would need time to adjust to going outside with out one but if you went out with him and took treats he'd catch on real quick, he aims to please.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle.
More about TEDDY....FL
Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
