And that we will. It will have to be someone that has patience to wait for TESS to loosen up and come out of her shell. She has not been socialized so is very shy with strangers. She is a very sweet girl and gets along with all other dogs but is shy with people. She needs to be taken out to places so she will get used to people. She is doggie door trained and will use it or newspaper when put down. She is spayed, UTD on all shots and on Frontline and Interceptor. Please help this little girl to come out of her shell and see that strangers are not always bad people. No kids under 14 as a noisy house would tend to make her very nervous. She does not really care for a crate but does fine in a baby-gated area. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
