TILLY was one of 4 breeder dogs that were turned into a shelter in KY saying that they were sterile and that's why they were surrendering them. TILLY is timid but has come around enough for us to pick her up but she still doesn't know what love is all about. We are sure in time that she will come out of her shell and be the sweetest dog we think she can be. She is not a fear biter but will just not let you touch her now but we are working on that. She is UTD on all shots, had a dental and and one Interceptor and Frontline. If you want the challenge of bringing out the sweetness in this little girl that's had very little human contact and was only a baby machine, please go online to www.ssdr.org and fill out the online app and be sure to put her name TILLY on the app. We do have her potty trained to a newpaper and a doggie door. She will use both if she has access to them. We believe a doggie door and fenced in yard is a must for this girl as well has the other three that will be going to the website once we socialize them a bit more. Also another dog would be a must so she can learn from that dog that love is not a bad thing.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.
More about TILLY ...NH
Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
