TOBY3 was gotten from a shelter in KY where he was turned in due to his family moving and they could only have one pet where they were going so Toby drew the short straw. When I went to get him he was so scared he wouldn't let me near him and I had to throw a towel over him to get him picked up. After I held him for a bit and put him in my car to bring him home he crawled in my lap and slept there all the way to TN. Poor little guy he just can't understand what's happening to him but he's sweet sweet and loves to cuddle. He is a beautiful deep red. He is already neutered and he'll have his shots and all this week. The owners said he is housebroken. Good with kids and all animals. He does like to ride and rides very well. Toby3 will make someone a wonderful pet and we want to make sure that what happened to him never happens again. If you are interested in knowing more about Toby3 or want to adopt him please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online application. Someone will be in touch soon.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost off to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
