He loves to sleep in the big bed and cuddle right next to you. He would do best with a doggie door and fenced in yard as he is still working on his housetraining but doing very well. He likes to play with the other dogs and does very well in a crate when we're not at home. He loves to go out in the fenced in yard and survey his domain and enjoys the sun when it's shining. He would be a great addition to any family and we think would do well with small children if they were not rough with him. Cats we do not think so unless your cat was used to dogs and standing up for themselves. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
