BIO (7/31/2019): This beautiful girl is Molly, a laid-back 7-year-old looking for her forever home. Molly came to us from middle Alabama after she had already been in two homes in her relatively young life. We don’t know what happened in her first home but her second family surrendered her saying she had nipped at the children. Not knowing the full story, we don’t really know if she does not like small children or if the children in the household were pestering her until she had just had enough. We do know that she has been a sweet pup since she has been in rescue.
Molly gets along well with her foster brothers and loves meeting new people. She also enjoys going for walks and rides well in the car. Molly will go outside and do what she needs to do but is not a dog that likes to hang out outside for a while; she would much rather be inside wherever her foster mom is, but we still want her to have a fenced in yard. Molly would do best in a home with older children and is an ideal family dog because of her friendly personality and laid-back temperament.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
