BIO (8/23/19):  Want to meet the happiest little doxie around?  Here she is!  Her name is Lacey.  Not only is she HAPPY, she is tiny, sweet, and loving beyond measure!  I promise your heart will melt the minute you meet her!  Mine sure did and I’ve had over 30 fosters, but this girl is extra special!

Lacey was surrendered with two other dogs when her owner had medical issues that prevented him from caring for his doxies any longer.  This owner was Lacey’s HERO.  He saved her from where she cowered under a neighbor’s shed after being attacked by a pit bull.  Lacey has scars on her muzzle and no vision in her right eye from the attack, but her spirit and love for life were not injured at all!

Lacey’s tail is always wagging.  She loves everything and everyone.  Her favorites?  Belly rubs, the Big Bed, your lap, being near YOU!

We are looking for an adopter living in the southeastern U.S.  If you are looking for an AWESOME companion, please fill out an application and then contact Lacey’s foster mom at meg1709@comcast.net with any questions.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
