BIO (9/16/2019):  Hi!  My name is Morsel and I came from a shelter in Alabama.  I had pneumonia when I left the shelter and needed help with dental issues and some ugly old mammary tumors.  All of that has been taken care of and is in the past.  Now, I’m a healthy girl longing for my forever home.

I am the sweetest little lady you will ever meet.  I love to be held, to sleep in the oversized dog bed, and would prefer living with someone who is home most of the time.  I love gentle play with other small dogs, and I don’t mind cats.  I’m not interested in toys but love belly rubs and laps.  I am gentle and quiet, and rarely bark.

I use a ramp the get in the big bed with my foster Mom at night.  I love sleeping in the big bed but will sleep in a dog bed too.  My favorite bed is oversized so I can stretch out.

I am loyal and will follow you everywhere and be your best friend.  My foster Mom says you will fall in love with my calming and adoring personality and my loving ways.

Make my dreams come true by giving me a forever home.  You’ll be rewarded with undying devotion and love!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
