BIO (9/27/2019): Tommy came from middle Alabama when his owners could no longer care for him. To sum this boy up in one word, it would be “sweetness”!
He's working hard on house breaking
Needs another young dog in the home
Fenced yard
Someone home a lot to help him with house-training
Loves to play fetch and tug of war
No apartments
We can’t say enough good things about this boy... he’s the sweetest boy and loves his lap time. But remember, he’s a puppy. So, you need to have the energy to keep up with him. He loves to play fetch and tug of war with you. Tommy loves to follow you around all over the house and will beat you into the room before you even turn the corner. For that reason, he does tend to get under foot somewhat. He loves to play with toys and since he was an only dog for a bit, it takes him time to get in the groove of playing with other dogs. If you are thinking of adding to your pack, then Tommy would be a great fit for your home!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
