BIO:  Meet young Master Waylon!  He is one of the friendliest dogs you will ever meet.  His foster dad believes that Waylon will never meet a stranger.  He just dives into whatever situation and deals with it like it is nothing new.  Waylon:

  • Is friendly and loving
  • Is working on house-training
  • Needs a fenced yard
  • Needs another YOUNG dog to play with

Waylon was picked up as a stray in Middle Tennessee by the local animal control and then came into rescue.  Waylon is a friendly and very playful dachshund mix.  Because he can get really, really excited, his foster dad thinks that Waylon might not do so well with really young kids, but would be perfectly at home with older kids who are respectful but love to play!

Waylon is working on his potty training.  He has had a few accidents in the house, but should do fine once in a forever home.  He is very curious and is a bit of a velcro dog.  Waylon does not like being separated from his people, even while in the house.  He is not overly fond of a crate, but he has not had an accident in his crate.  He loves the big bed and loves sitting with his people in a chair. This boy loves to give kisses!  He has done very well meeting new dogs, both female and male.  We don’t know about cats.

If you believe you are ready for a total love bug then Waylon is for you!  Fill out an adoption form and ask any questions you might have about this wonderful little dog.

More about Waylon in AL

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Requires a yard, Leashtrained, Cratetrained, Affectionate, Needs a companion animal

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
