BIO:  Hi folks!  My name is Sweetie and my foster mom says it is the PERFECT name for me ‘cause I am as SWEET as can be.  She also says my name could be HAPPY or CUTIE or PRECIOUS ... ‘cause I’m all those, too!  I was surrendered by my owner because she was moving and she wasn’t going to be able to have a dog at her new location.  Well, her loss is is going to definitely be your gain!!!

I am a tiny little girl with a big barrel chest.  I prance around my foster home with my tail always wagging. I love to explore, but I also like to be right under your feet so you’ll have to look down when you walk!  LOL!  No one can believe I’m 9 years old.  I sure don’t act it!  I love to be with my person as much as possible and I will reward you with kisses and unconditional love!  Here is my wish list:

  • An adopter who is home a lot would be GREAT
  • I love having LOTS of one-on-one attention
  • A home in Florida
  • I'm okay as an only dog as long as you’re home a lot
  • Just wanted to make sure you know I'm a smart, happy little girl who learns quickly and likes to play

Please contact my foster mom (Meg at meg1709@comcast.net) if you have a question or two.  She’ll tell you how TERRIFIC I am!!!!  Better yet, fill out an application ‘cause I’m going to have LOTS of people interested in me!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
