BIO:  Sarge came from southern Alabama when his owners decided they didn’t want to take him and another dog with them when they moved, so they dumped little Sarge at a shelter.  This boy is so, so sweet!  He just needs some guidance on how to be a “good dog”.  Our list for Sarge includes:

• No apartments
• A fenced in yard is a “must”
• Another younger, playful dog for him to play with as he’s still very much a puppy
• Someone home a lot to help him with housetraining

Sarge smiles when he’s glad to see you!!!  Cutest thing you’ve ever seen and he loves to smile...checkout his picture below!  He gets along with all the dogs in foster care and even the cat, now only if the cat would like him.

Our requirements for his adoption are very set.  So please, do not ask us to make exceptions as we will not.  If you are interested in making Sarge a member of your family, please email his foster mom for more details on this sweet, sweet boy.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
