BIO:  Honey came in as a stray to a shelter in El Campo, Texas and she was pregnant. She had 8 beautiful babies but only 5 made it. They have all found wonderful homes and now it’s her turn. Honey's must-haves include:

• No apartments or high rises
• A fenced yard
• Another young small dog for her to play with since she loves to play

Honey is sweeter than honey is the best way we can describe her! She loves other dogs but she loves humans more. Be prepared to have loyalty like you’ve never had before. Her goals in life are to make you happy and be the best pet she can be. We can’t say enough good things about her, you’ll just have to find out for yourself what a great girl she is and apply for her ASAP.

She does not like sharing her food with other dogs so you’ll need to separate them and if she is bored (no dog to play with) she will dig holes.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. 

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate. 

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
