BIO:  Looking for an adopter in FL or another Southern state

Hi folks! My name is Oscar and I am one wonderful little doxie with some very handsome markings! I have silver dappling on my head and chest. Color-wise, I’m not your run-of-the-mill black and tan doxie for sure! Let me tell you what I love... being close to my owner, squeaking my toys, hunting geckos on the lanai or in the fenced yard, and going for walks. I have not had a potty accident at my foster home either! I do have a few bad teeth, but AADR is taking care of that. I will have a dental on July 28 and will probably lose some teeth. Foster mom can’t wait for me to have bright, shiny teeth and fresh clean breath!

Here’s my wish list:

  • Someone home a lot because I want to know you’re nearby.
  • Someone to hug and pet me as much as you want!
  • LOTS of squeaky toys to play with!
  • An enclosed lanai or a fenced yard where I can chase geckos or other varmints!

My foster mom will gladly give you more info once I’ve settled in more. I just traveled 15 hours to get from Tennessee to Florida, so I’m looking to stay in Florida or another Southern state. I don't want another long transport, okay?!? You can email my foster mom (Meg) at meg1709@comcast.net for an update on my progress, but why not fill out an application first? It makes my life easier, and my foster mom’s too!

BTW, my first owner passed away and I went to another rescue group where I lived with 18 dogs. That rescuer then turned me over to AADR because they wanted me to have the best life with a forever family of my own. AADR will find me that family... is it you? I sure hope so ‘cause I want to be spoiled and loved on all day!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
