BIO:  Looking for an adopter in Florida or another Southern state

Hi folks! My name is Austin and I am a happy little doxie! I look just like the prototypical dachshund you see in books or magazines. I am quite the physical specimen - athletic and enjoy walks. I get along great with other animals but do enjoy my time being the only pet so I can get lots of love.

Let me tell you what I love... I am very laid-back with my new foster family and am happy to sit and be cuddled with or just lean into their legs on the couch. I am so chill, my family said they haven’t even heard me bark yet! I love to explore any place I visit, nose to the ground checking everything out. I love my walks, do great on my leash, and I like car rides too.

I had bad teeth, but AADR took care of that. I had a dental on July 28th and lost most of my teeth. The teeth I have left are now sparkling and I now have fresh clean breath!

Here’s my wish list:

  • A household where someone is home a lot so I have someone to pal around with
  • Someone to hug and pet me as much as you (and I) want!

My foster parents will gladly give you more info once I’ve settled in a little longer. I just traveled 15 hours to get from Tennessee to Florida, so I’m looking to stay in Florida or another Southern state. I don't want another long transport, okay?!? You can email my foster dad (Ray) at Doxieray941@gmail.com for an update on my progress, but why not fill out an application first? It makes my life easier, and my foster dad’s too!

BTW, my first owner surrendered me and I went to another rescue group where I lived with 18 dogs. That rescuer then turned me over to AADR because they wanted me to have the best life with a forever family of my own. AADR will find me that family. Is it you? I sure hope so ‘cause I want to be spoiled and loved on all day!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Does Good in the Car, Requires a yard, Leashtrained, Affectionate

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
