FOSTER HOME Ani Hughes – Sacramento 95827- Doxielvr81@yahoo.com

Howdy! My name is Buddy; I am a hyper, fun, loving and sweet red boy! I am full of adventure and love to go for walks; I walk great on a leash too! I love to play fetch, run through the sprinklers and chase butterflies. I can also be mellow, usually after a day full of play. But I love to cuddle up on a warm lap, and when it's not too hot, I love to be an under cover lover! I am great in the car and will hop in as soon as some one says bye bye! I love my foster moms cat, but I come on a little strong and can scare the cat, if the cat runs I like to chase it with my only intention being to play, so I am best with supervision. I get along great with almost anyone, but I do bark when the doorbell dings, just to warn you that someone is there. Overall, I am a happy sweet boy just looking for my forever home.

Buddy at this young age has had a few seizures lately.  The 1st one was major and now he has only had 2 more since, they were very small and not life threatening.  He does need to have an infected tooth removed but we are holding off for 10 days for him to be seizure free before he has his dental.  There is no organic cause for his seizures-  his blood work and glucose are PERFECT. We suspect that it is from the tooth infection and that he will have no more after his dental.  He has  a Special Adoption Fee of $150.

Buddy is such a sweet boy. I can't say enough about this charming dog. When you need a hug, he's right there cuddling up to you, when you've had a long hard day, he seems to understand and just gives you the sweetest kisses. He cuddles to no end at night, and will fall asleep on your chest. He also loves water, when I take my baths at night; he always wants to jump right in, especially when I have bubbles! He is fully crate trained; he needs a schedule for potty times, but is pretty good about going outside. He would do best in a home with older children. He sometimes has a hard time warming up to new dogs, but he always does, just needs a little time. He can be an escape artist, so a home with a fully fenced yard is recommended. Although it will be so hard to let Buddy go to his forever home, he deserves it so much, because he is just a wonderful dachshund that will bring so much love and happiness to a lucky family.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

More about Buddy

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
