BIO:  Nadia came over from Belgium with a military family and had to be rehomed because they were relocating, so now she’s looking for a forever home. Is that your family? This is what we need for her:

  • A fenced yard
  • No apartment or high rises
  • No children under the age of 12 years
  • Someone home a lot because she loves her people
  • Another young dog or two as she is learning to play and loves to play fetch with you though she can be an only dog too

Keep in mind she is a standard so no stairs for her and no short fences because she would go over a two foot fence. Nadia was very scared when she came to us but when doing the dental on her it was discovered she had a twig lodged in the roof of her mouth between her carnassial on both sides of her mouth. No wonder she was not a happy camper but now she feels so much better and the gums are healing. She will need soft food for about 10 days but by the time you put in your application and she gets to you, she’ll be back on hard food. She does have some luggage that comes with her, things that were hers when she got surrendered.

If you have been looking for a young standard female, then look no further! Contact her foster mom for more details if you are seriously considering adopting her.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Nadia in TN

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
