BIO: Shirley came from a shelter in East Tennessee where she was turned in because the owner had passed away.
Shirley is a sweet dog but don’t tell her she’s 8 years old as she sure doesn’t act it! She loves hanging with the younger dogs and playing with them. Our wishes for her include:
A fenced yard
Another smaller dog for her to hang with and keep her company if you have to go out
No apartments or high-rises
Someone that can be home a lot as she loves her people
Don't let this little lady pass you by. Her pictures do not do her justice. Shirley is a sweet, loving dog who will make you feel like the most interesting person in the world. She is always up for whatever you want to do. She will enhance your daily walk with the joy and enthusiasm of a best friend. Shirley will quietly sit with you for reading and meditation. She loves to watch TV and will always let you watch your favorite program without complaint. Although she loves to cuddle and sit with you, she also likes to spend time alone on a chair or dog bed. When you announce it is bedtime, Shirley will race you under the covers to get them warm and cozy. She is perfectly house trained with a dog door.
Her previous owner obviously loved and treasured Shirley and Shirley shows it. Are you the one who can provide the same love and care for Shirley for the rest of her life?

=============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI, NH, ME or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
