Miss Sadie came to rescue because her family was facing a terminal illness and couldn't care for her.  She is a sweet, laid back girl that goes with the flow. If you've got loving to give, she'll be there for the taking! She is big standard girl that is …....well, fat—yes, Miss Sadie has been indulgent! She needs a forever home that is committed to helping her slim down a bit and trim her waistline and regain her girlish figure. She is only 2.5 years old and a beautiful mahagony color that will turn heads. She is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccines, and an overall healthy girl that is on heartworm prevention and Frontline.

Sadie has good indoor manners because she is crate trained and housetrained. She loves everybody and loves to meet and greet, both people and other dogs. She is good with children and is just happy to hang out with the family.

This little girl will have your heart from the moment you meet her. Sadie is a charmer. Just wait until you see her sit up and shine her big brown eyes at you. She is very well behaved, gets along well with other dogs and loves to follow you every step. She sleeps in her bed or on the floor at night but if you accidentally leave the closet door open she loves a dark cosy place. It takes a little time to brush her, as she thinks she is so pretty she  gets excited and has to priss around and then come back for more. You can't help but laugh! How cute! She is having to learn about a pet door but for now she is letting me know when she needs to go out. Sadie needs a little leash work as she will sit down and demand her way.  A gentle tug and telling her " come" seems to work. This precious girl will be a delightful addition to a lucky forever home.

If you think Sadie is the dachshund that will make your family complete, please fill out a application for adoption. She is being fostered in North Alabama. If you have questions, please email her foster mom, Carol, at decaturcl@aol.com.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

More about SADIE

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
