 Update 2010:
Janie was a puppymill survivor and does well in a quieter environment with less action.  Janie can't wait for spring so she can roll in the grass and lay in the sun.  Sweet Janie Jane… I call her my doggie super hero, she lives with gusto and is ever so loyal.   Jane LOVES to run and explore her world and really enjoys the outdoors, she would make a great hiking partner.  At night when it is time to watch TV Janie is right there in a lap ready for snuggle time.  Janie can be shy till she gets to know you.  Once she is comfortable with you she is ALL yours, she is a real love bug!!  We keep Janie on a strict schedule to ensure no accidents in the house.   She sleeps in a crate and goes right in when asked to (long as she gets her treat for being a good girl).  Janie is on daily medication that is very inexpensive.  Janie really wants a home to call her own, please consider her if you are looking for a side kick.

Sweet Janie Jane… I call her my doggie super hero, she lives with gusto.  Jane loves to run and explore her world.   She loves to be outside, and is SUPER loyal.  She rolls in the grass and gets along with everyone.  She does like to snuggle up to your neck when you pick her up and does like to sit in a lap at night and just be loved on. Jane does need a min or two to warm up and can be shy till she gets to know you..  One really neat thing is that her fur around her neck is ridiculously soft and is medium length.  Jane on a strict schedule to try to make housebreaking a breeze.  She sleeps in a crate and does really well with it.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

More about JANE...DE

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
