Hello, my name is Tobias and I have only been here at my Vermont foster home for a few nights, but as I let them know more and more about me, they will be sure to update you here on my bio.  Now for a message from my fosters:

The following requirements are non-negotiable:

• A fenced yard
• No apartment or high-rise building
• Adult family member home majority of the time
• No children under the age of 12 years

Tobias is a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix, a Chiweenie! He is such a loving and caring little guy, which is certainly surprising considering how he found himself in rescue. He comes to us from a Western Kentucky abandonment case. He was one of 20 dogs left to fend for themselves in a home with only an occasional food drop off. Tobias somehow escaped the home and was rescued with the help of a neighbor. When AADR was contacted we jumped into action, and here he is. His new furever family will need to understand that he IS A FLIGHT RISK. He has been known to eyeball an open door and if given half the chance, he will dart out and sadly be quite impossible to catch. 

Tobias loves cuddling on the couch and snuggling under blankets. He has the cutest little bark to let everyone know that someone is here. He will certainly make your family very happy and he will pay you back with all the kisses you can handle. Please consider adding Tobias to you family and giving him the furever home that he so deserves!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
