BIO:  Olivia/Ivy is sweeter than sweet and one of the friendliest fosters I have had the privilege to foster! She also has more medical issues than any doxie I have fostered. The vet assures us that Olivia is not in pain at this time, but she will need on-going care from an ophthalmologist, a cardiologist, ENT specialist, and an orthopedist. She cannot be allowed to do stairs, gain weight, or jump off furniture since that could exasperate her spinal disc issues leading to future back surgery.

Olivia’s tail is always wagging and she is VERY generous with her kisses. What a happy, happy girl!

Olivia’s previous owner had taken her to the vet to be euthanized due to her limited vision. The vet refused to euthanize such a young dog and contacted AADR. Of course, we stepped up to take Olivia and find her a forever home. Could that be you? For more information on Olivia, please contact her foster mom, Meg, at meg1709@comcast.net

More about Olivia aka Ivy in FL

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
