BIO:  Steffi is a spitfire at only 9 weeks old! She is three pounds and was born on 3/19/21. She and her brother, along with their mom, were taken to a shelter in Alabama. AADR was asked to take all 3 and we readily agreed. She will go to her adopter with a spay contract and she must be spayed before 9/19/21. She will be able to go her approved forever home after 5/25/21 when she gets her second DHPP shot.

Our must have for little Steffi include:

  • A fenced yard
  • Another young, small dog or a cat for her to play with
  • Someone who is home a lot to house train her, right now she's pretty good using a puppy pad but her adopter will need to house train her
  • No apartments or high rises
  • Children in the home 7 years or older and respectful of a dog's space

Steffi's adoption fee is $550.00 + $75.00 (refundable spay fee), plus $55.00 for a health certificate if she is going out of the state of Tennessee

Please contact her foster mom at aadrpresident@gmail.com for additional information or if you have questions.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
