BIO:  Meet Teddy, one of the most charming, well-behaved, well-mannered fosters we have had in this home! Teddy gets along with everyone! He has gotten along with male and female dogs. All visitors have been charmed by this handsome, amazing dog! Other than needing to lose a pound or two, Teddy is a wonderful. He will sleep in the big bed but waits to be invited. He is perfectly content to sleep on a nice comfortable dog bed by the big bed. He will go into his crate willingly and has not soiled his crate during the day. He is fantastic! There’s not too much more to say, other then if you are looking for a great companion dog, Teddy is the real deal.

Teddy came from a family in Alabama when he no longer wanted to be around toddlers and while the owner was very sad, she knew this was what was best for Teddy. He’s happy here, no more toddlers! Teddy just wants to enjoy the rest of his days in a relatively quiet home with no children under the age of 10 years.

Our must haves for this handsome boy include:

  • A fenced yard since he loves to be outside
  • No apartments or high-rises
  • Someone who could be home and not work or another dog for him to buddy with
  • Children or grandchildren in the home must be at least 10 years of age and must know how to respect a dog's space
  • These are not negotiable - we promised the owner we’d not put him in a home where he would be bothered by young children

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
