Spec came from B'ham, AL where he was found as a stray. This boy is sweet sweet sweet and just wants to get as close to you as he possibly can. He will sleep with you, eat with you and travel with you. He loves to be in your lap as much as possible. He is housebroke but will have accidents when he comes to you until he learns your schedule. He also has a bit of a submissive urination issue but that is easily cured. He would be fine with or with out other dogs but would be great if you are a stay at home person. We'd like him to have a fenced in yard as he is not used to pottying on a leash. He is finished with his heartworm treatment and ready to go on to his new home. UTD on all shots and on Frontline and will be started on Interceptor in May. Please consider giving this sweet boy a lasting forever home. You won't be sorry.

IF WE CAN'T TRANSPORT BY LAND THEN YOU'LL HAVE TO FLY TO THE CITY THAT THE DOG IS BEING FOSTERED IN TO GET HIM/HER. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard or down to FLORDIA. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
