BIO:  Katie came from East Tennessee when her owners surrendered her because she was stressing out their other dog; he was losing his fur due to Katie wanting to play so much. Oscar came from Georgia when his owner was pregnant and knew that she couldn’t care for a baby and a playful dog. When they came into rescue we put them together for play dates and saw the beginning of a beautiful relationship that we didn’t want to split up, so we are adopting them out together. They LOVE each other and will play and play for hours.

Our must haves for this adorable pair include:

  • A fenced yard attached to the home (this is not negotiable)
  • No apartments or high-rises
  • A doggie door or a chance to get out frequently and play in the fenced yard
  • An adopter who understands these are two high energy dachshunds and who is prepared to handle all this entails

You can “cut the cord” as the only entertainment you'll need is these two right here. So what do you say, are you up to the challenge of adopting two very playful young dogs? You’ll never be sorry you did!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
