BIO:  See my smile? I’m smiling because the vet clinic I was taken to by my previous owner refused to euthanized me and contacted rescue instead. They wanted me to be put sleep because they said I was peeing all over their house but they didn’t have me neutered and they were gone over 12 hours a day. Can you hold it that long??

My wish list includes:

  • A fenced yard
  • Someone who works from home or is home a lot because I love the attention
  • No apartments or high-rises because I do like to bark at strange noises (I’m a dachshund after all)
  • I prefer female dogs (smaller size please) instead of males or I can be an only dog
  • Someone who likes to walk as I love to walk on a leash

You will be my third home if you choose to adopt me. My first one abused me and the second home took me to save me but then she was gone so much and I just want to be with my people. Can you please save me and give me the home I dream of? I promise I’ll be good. I’m getting a dental in a week or two and I’ll be ready to get in a car and come to you wherever you are. See this rescue helps with transporting us wiener dogs anywhere up and down the east coast so sharpen those pencils and get to filling out the application, I’m waiting.

A note from my foster mom: we think Roscoe would be fine with another female dog and one that is not too hyper as he does get anxious if there are too many young dogs and too much activity. We’ve had no problem with him pottying but we say stick to a schedule and of course there is always the transition potty issues, but don’t let that stop you. We are so glad the vet didn’t put him to sleep but reached out to us because that would have been a waste of a dog's life. He’s a super sweet boy that deserves to finally have a home that will be his last and will treasure him!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
