BIO UPDATEClyde has settled nicely in his foster home. He is a great dog-very friendly and loves everyone he meets! He enjoys his walks and his squeaky toys. He gets along well with his foster mates and is respectful of their space.

He is always up for a belly rub or back rub and will nudge for more. He loves being with his person. He definitely needs a fenced backyard so he can chase anything that dares to come in. He is doing great at house-training. He is a true love bug who deserves his forever home!

BIO:  Clyde came from Tennessee when his owner was no longer able to care for him. Clyde can be a little standoffish at first but warms up after a while. Clyde does like squeaky toys and is a happy boy. He would like another smaller dog to keep him company if you had to be out of the house. No small or noisy children running in and out as that would make him too nervous but if you have a quiet home where he can enjoy his days, he’s a happy camper. He’ll greet people at the door but just doesn’t want them to try to pick him up.

Our must haves for this adorable boy include:

  • A fenced yard
  • No apartments or high-rises
  • Someone who is home quite a bit and another smaller adult dog

If you think he would make a good addition to your family please consider putting in an application for Clyde, he needs you!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
