BIO: Julie is one of three puppymill dogs from Marshall, MO.  All that we know right now is that she is shy but sweet and gets along with dogs.

UPDATE 10/21/09:  Julie is now infatuated with my 65 pound pit/aussie girl, Alana!  Her day is filled with the struggle of splitting her time between me and her Alana.  She just started to really play with the other dachshunds about 3 days ago and it's so wonderful to watch!  She seeks me out for attention and now sleeps under the covers at night.  This little girl is so special and the humans that she adopts will be so blessed to share their lives with her!  Everyone that meets her falls in love with her and I expect her to be adopted quickly.  She is blind in her right eye due to micropthalmia and has a coloboma in her left eye, but she can see well out of her left eye and hears great.  This girl is incredibly special but is not special needs.  She is just as easy to care for and love as any other gorgeous pup!  She is a puppymill survivor and has had at least a few litters of puppies, but those days are over.  She is still learning why humans are good to have around and is timid and shy at first.  Every day I see Julie relax a little more as she blossoms ino the perfect dachshund that she's meant to be!

p.s.  She hates the cold and needs lots of sweaters to keep her warm!

Update 9/30/09:  Julie is by far the cutest little foster girl I've had!!  She is teeny tiny and very curious about everyone and everything in her new home.  She is house trained and crate trained and has easily been the most social of the puppymill dogs from this rescue.  She doesn't understand why the other dogs like me so much, but boy is she gonna find out!!  I think this baby will make a great playmate for another smaller dog, but is great with larger dogs as well.  Please consider adding this princess to your family.  I will be SOOO jealous of the family that gets this one!!  :-)

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
