BIO:

Slinky is a beautiful, calm, loving, gentleman. He has recently lost his owner to cancer and is looking for a second forever home. I’m told by his caregiver that he was LOVED by his owner. This love-bug is a true snuggler. And actually waits patiently for an opportunity to snuggle up in the big chair with fostermom. He shares the chair quite nicely with his foster sister (who tends to have trouble getting along with others at times) He was welcomed with open arms by my dogs and his foster sister with no issues. Slinky enjoys being outside and doesn’t even mind the rain! I believe this dog will adjust well to almost any family and will be a joyful addition. If you’re looking for a nice, calm dog.. Slinky may be the one.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
