Molly Z-5 came in with 18 other dogs from a puppy mill bust in AL. (217 total dogs were recovered and dispersed to different rescues). She is a dachshund mix and came in as skin and bones from poor care and diet. I have her on the road to recovery. She also has a pretty smile now. She didn't even have a name, so she became Z-5 at the vet's office. After several attempts at a name, she chose Molly. She is such a sweetie and so happy to be out of that horrible place. She now has a doggie bed to sleep in or the big bed if she chooses. She can't get enough love and will follow you everywhere.  Molly is working on her house training and doing very well. She is using a pee pad when left at home but would love to have a big back yard to play in when you are home. I do not recommend a gated doorway because she will climb it to be near you.

She learned to go in/out the doggy door on the porch very quickly and will scratch on the door to let you know she is ready to come in.

She has not been around children so I would not recommend her to go to a home with children under 10 years old.  She is still afraid of most people and will bark at them and then back away.  She will eventually come around.

This sweetheart deserves to be with you and to love you.  Molly has extra kisses to make-up for time she’s been in that cage the first part of her life.  She wants to be with you in her forever home.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
