BIO:  Keke is as beautiful as her name! She was turned into a shelter in Tennessee by a Good Samaritan who picked her up as a stray. She is very friendly and happy and thinks everyone was put on earth to pet her and love on her. She loves both men and women if they give her attention. Someone has taken the time to work on basic training with her... she knows sit, stay, come, and waits at the door to come back in as if someone has cleaned her paws before going back inside.

Our must-haves for this beautiful small standard gal included:

  •  A fenced yard no exceptions, she has a high prey drive.
  •  No apartments, high-rises, or condos, she is very vocal.
  •  Someone who is home most of the time, though she is crate trained.
  •  She loves to jump on furniture, which is a no-no to help prevent back surgery.
  •  She can be an only dog or with others.

Keke would love to sleep in the Big Bed with you or beside your bed in a doggie bed. She just wants to be around her person all the time. Please do not ask us to make exceptions to the “must-haves”, these are for her welfare and to find her the home that she deserves.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children
under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime.
Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at
the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information
concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if
traveling out of the state they are being fostered in.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding
importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you will
need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption
Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
