BIO:  Zana is a very sweet girl! She lived with her owner, who was bedridden for ten of Zana's 13 years of life. Her mom, with whom Zana had laid in bed, passed away, and the daughter took her in. She had her for a year, but Zana and the toddler in the family didn't get along, so Zana had to be surrendered to us to find her final home. Could that be you?

This cute little nugget is so sweet, and she looked so confused when she first came into rescue. She is ready for a new home now, and we want her to have the right one. She would prefer a home with another young small dog for her to pal around with when you are gone and no children in the home who are under ten years old.

Zana is playful but is not especially interested in toys. She would rather snuggle and cuddle with her person (especially her foster mom) and enjoy her neck rubs. After all, she is a little princess.

She is a bit overweight, but we are working to help her regain her girlish figure. During a dental, she lost the rest of her teeth except the two bottom teeth. She will need softened Hill's Metabolic food until she loses weight, and then she can go to hard kibble small bites.

Please don't let her age stop you from considering making Zana a part of your family. She is healthy and active. Zana thoroughly enjoys her walks and needs someone willing to join her on her strolls. She loves being outside, so a fenced yard is a must. Zana has always been in a home with a yard. She also enjoys her car rides. She just enjoys the company of her peeps. At night she sleeps in her own bed, but she just might like sleeping in the Big Bed.

No apartments, high-rises, or condos. She could bark at noises, and then complaints would happen, and she’d be returned to us.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR doesn't recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
