Tobi came from Maryland when his owner had to work too many hours to give him the time he needed, so they contacted us to help find him a home. Tobi loves toys to the point that he will protect them, so if you have another dog, there could be a scuffle over the toys. Tobi, however, is also good as an only dog if you work from home or are a stay-at-home person. It’s important that you can keep up with his energy level because he loves zoomies and playing catch when you throw the ball - just don’t expect him to bring it back, you have to work for it! He is young so keep in mind you have to be young enough to keep him happy, could that be you? Maybe you need a jogging buddy?

Tobi is good with strangers as long as the proper introductions are made, and he doesn’t really care for a man with a hat on.

Tobi does have some separation anxiety, which is why he may do better with a younger small FEMALE dog to play with and keep him company if you do have to go out.

Our must-haves for adorable Tobi include:

• A fenced yard
• Someone who is home more often than not
• A submissive young small female dog to play with and pal around with
• No apartments, condos, townhomes, or high-rises; shared walls would not be good

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. 

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
