BIO:  Chewy came from OH when her owner had to give her up because she was fighting with her fur sibling and the owner was fearful of the outcome. Chewy was scared when she first came to us but once she knew us, she opened and is very friendly. She loves the male foster dog in the foster home and even plays with him. She really enjoys the fenced in yard and due to her young age and her love of the outdoors we want her to have that fenced yard so her and her foster brother can play and run.

Chewy loves lap time and will beg to get in your lap if you are sitting at your computer or watching TV or just having quiet time.

Due to the fact that she is a couple pounds overweight we want someone that will commit to keeping her at her idea weight which we believe should be around 12 pounds, no more than that.

Our must haves for Chewy are:

  • Fenced in yard
  • Another small young MALE dog or two(no females)
  • Someone that can be home more than not
  • No apartments, high rises or condos as she likes to bark when someone comes in the door

If you meet our requirements and wish to adopt Chewy please go to our website and fill out our online adoption application. We do help with transports and out of state adoptions East of the MS are welcome.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
