On top of that they didn't keep her on hearworm prevention and she is heartworm positive and is going through treatment. It will be the middle of April before she can go to her forever home but that shouldn't stop you from applying for the sweetest dachshund in the world. All she wants is love, very laid back would be great with kids 5 and older that knew how to treat a small dog. She apprears to be house-broken but will need a refreasher going to any new home. She is great with foster mom and dad and all her foster brothers and sisters. This girl is too sweet to be without a home for long, are YOU that home??? More about BUTTER....NYGood with Dogs AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
