BIO:  Petra came in with two other dogs from a breeder who decided to retire her. She is a sweet girl and oh so pretty! She is timid and will need patience to help her understand that she is now living the good life. Petra does like to bark; therefore, no shared walls for anyone wanting to adopt her. Breeder dog experience is beneficial, as she will need time and patience. If you do not have a doggie door, then a schedule for going out would be needed.

Petra did have a dental and lost 5 teeth, but luckily, no canines.

Our must-haves for this pretty little Petra include:

• A fenced yard
• Breeder experienced adopter with patience
• Another small, young, well-socialized dog for her to pal around with and learn from
• Someone who could be home more often than not
• No apartments, high-rises, or condos

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. 

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
