BIO:  Petra came in with two other dogs that came from a breeder that decided to retire her. She is a sweet girl and oh so pretty but she is timid and will need patience to get her to understand she is now living the good life. She does like to bark therefore no shared walls for anyone wanting to adopt her. Breeder dog experience is beneficial as she will take time and patience. If you do not have a doggie door then a schedule for going out would be needed.

She did have a dental and lost 5 teeth but luckily no canines.

Our must haves for her are:

• Fenced in yard
• Breeder experienced adopter with patience
• Another small young dog, well socialized for her to pal with and learn from
• Someone that could be home more than not
• No apartments, high rises or condos

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. 

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
