BIO:
Toby is a sweet and gentle boy who came to us from Georgia after a Good
Samaritan rescued him from an abusive situation. Despite his rough start,
Toby’s heart is pure love!
This mellow guy’s favorite things include cuddling, burrowing under
blankets, and following his people wherever they go. He’s a professional
snuggler who would love nothing more than to curl up in your lap or nap
beside you.
Toby sleeps well in his crate—as long as it’s close to his people—but he would
be thrilled to share the big bed at night, too! He does occasionally bark in his
crate, so apartment living wouldn’t be ideal. Because Toby also loves to
stretch his legs and run, a secure fenced yard is required.
He’s not much of a toy player and can be a little shy when first meeting new
people, but once he feels safe, he’ll shower you with all the love, kisses, and
cuddles you can handle.
Toby is ready to find his forever family—a kind, patient home where he can
continue learning what it means to be loved.
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion to share your days
(and your blankets), Toby might be your perfect match!
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5,
or families planning to have children during the dog’s lifetime. Dachshunds
are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a
dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at
the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date
information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about
the animal.
There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if
traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding
importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will
need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption
Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in
Step 3.

take you to the application form.
Please don’t let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best
friend. We have volunteers who will help your new friend get up and down
the East Coast or Midwest. We just can’t get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
