BIO:  We are unsure of her situation prior to AADR but she weighs only 8 pounds.  She had very bad dental caries and a skin infection which caused her to lose her fur.  Her situation must have been pretty terrible.   But this little girl is a super star!  Abba is gaining weight and eating like a champ since her dental surgery and is growing a beautiful shiny black coat.  She is a very loving little old lady and will be best suited in a home with no other dogs or children.  She is scheduled to be spayed this month, we wanted to wait and not have back to back surgeries.  She sleeps with her foster mommy and daddy that give her a lot of love and attention.   Abba is crate trained and we are still working on housetraining her.  This little girl has several very happy and healthy years left.

More about Abba....VA

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
