BEING FOSTERED IN NASHVILLE, TN
Buster is crated every day whilet he foster goes to work and he doesn't have a problem with the crate.
Buster is a sweet boy that was abandoned twice. His owner left him at a relative’s house and never returned for him. The relative then abandoned Buster again, which is where Southern States comes in. This cycle of abandonment has left Buster a wounded spirit.
Buster is usually a sweet, low key boy, but he also suffers from “cage rage.” Many times dogs that we see with “cage rage” have been abused or teased in their cages, and this may be Buster’s case. Buster, however will immediately calm down when the door is opened to his crate, and acts as if nothing has happened. Buster does like children, but he jumps on them to get their attention, which often scares smaller children, so he should only go to home with children over the age of 6. He is housebroken, UTD, and on prevention. Buster seems to prefer men and needs an experienced Dachshund home with a strong pack leader. If you believe that you can give Buster the home and leadership that he desperately needs, please fill out an application to adopt and list Buster as your preference for a life long friend.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
