BIO:

Hi I’m Spike and I’m so glad to be here.  My family moved out of state and couldn’t take me with them. A lady took me in to adopt me- she got to busy so she dropped me off at the shelter. There were lots of strange humans and big dogs.  I was scared.  I don’t like big dogs cuz they scare me so much. They said they were gonna “put me down” . I don’t know what that means but some nice ladies came to take me away.  I got to ride on the car and have a nice warm fuzzy place to sleep.

Spike is such a puppy like dog as he is so young.  Loves to cuddle and kiss on you – he is starved for affection.  He does great with kids. Doesn’t seem to mind cats at all, but is terrified of big dogs and wil act out on that fear by barking like a banshee at them. Loves fuzzy toys and to snuggle up in the big bed under the covers.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35

Fee r the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

More about Spike,,,CA

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
