BIO: Ralphie came to our organization from a family who cared for him as a temporary situation for an aunt who was elderly and could no longer care for him. He was the love of her life and was very well cared for. Ralphie is a beautiful boy with a gorgeous golden red coat. He is very quiet but not shy. Ralphie is a lap dog who would do well as an only dog or with other companions. He loves to snuggle under the covers at night in the “big bed” and enjoys lounging around the house during the day.
Ralphie needs to be placed in a home with a person or people who are home during the day. An ideal home would be with a retired person or couple. He does have slight separation anxiety. He will also need continuing work with his housetraining skills.
Ralphie has made himself right at home very quickly and is sitting on the cushy chair next to me as I type his bio. Ralphie doesn’t mind going for walks but will let you know when he is ready to head home, he is very low key and relaxed and doesn’t require daily exercise and playtime. His favorite thing to do is snuggle on your lap or under a fluffy blanket. He is not loud and barks only on occasion. If you are looking for a true companion to love and snuggle, Ralphie is the perfect match for you. Won’t you please consider giving Ralphie a wonderful and loving forever home?

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
